Summer Vacation. Two sisters, Marina (17) and Luna (14), travel from Costa Rica to Panama looking for their absent father. While dealing with the friction that arises between them, they find space to explore their desires, new friendships, dating and skateboarding, on a journey towards emancipation in which they discover the joy of the simple act of living together. An intimate and tender story of sisterhood in the urban tropics, with an in-depth portrait of colorful teenage life.

about the director KATTIA G. ZÚÑIGA

Panamanian-Costa Rican, born in 1982. She has a degree in physiotherapy and trained as a dancer in the Danza Abierta program at the University of Costa Rica. As an actress, she participated in the fiction films Nina and Laura, by Alejo Crisóstomo, and Viaje, by Paz Fábrega, among others. He wrote and directed the short fiction It`s Cecilia and Things that don`t Break, and collaborated on several film projects in the art and sound departments. Las Hijas is her first feature film as a director.
