The paths for film distribution focusing on female protagonists on screen and behind the camera at international and national festivals, differences in strategies for authorial and commercial films, financing mechanisms, and presentation of the launch cases of the films The Second Mother and Olmo and the Seagull, starred and directed by women and acclaimed by audiences and critics.
about the speaker
Barbara Sturm has been in the film marketing business since 2007. She has a degree in cinema and has participated in the training specialization programmes in CICAE at the Venice Film Festival and the Berlinale Talent Campus at Berlin International Film Festival. As a director of the art distributor Pandora Filmes, she was responsible for the acquisition and strategy of launching 34 Brazilian and international films in Brazil for four years, including The Second Mother by Anna Muylaert, which had 500K spectators in Brazil. She was a programmer at Cine Belas Artes for five years. In 2016, she completed a post-graduate degree in digital mobilization at PUC-SP. She teaches Strategic Planning for Cinema, held at Unibes Cultural and B_arco Cultural Centre in São Paulo. At the beginning of 2017, she was appointed content director at the distributor and international sales agent Elo Company, being responsible for content acquisitions, project analysis for investments in production and coordination of film releases.
