about the course
In the contemporary world, gender issues and worldwide movements for the pursuit of equal opportunities, staffing and salaries are crucial subjects. It becomes necessary to think of the plurality of stories and their narratives. It is worth either for those who make films and for those who analyze them. The course gives an overview of the current scenario of world cinema, in terms of narrative and market, and approaches film criticism and its relation with contemporary society. If diversity is a key piece for the construction of a better cinema and world, women’s analysis and criticism become crucial to broadening the vision, understanding and discussion of cinema and its place in the contemporary setting.
Therefore, this workshop also proposes exercises on critical essays to be published in the official FIM website.
